Today’s session is special for us as it allows us to engage with two of the finest minds in design. Their work needs no introduction. But to give some context to this evening’s session, I shall attempt one. Mr. Bhagwat is one of the sharpest minds in Architecture and Landscape from India. His work both as an academic and practitioner has touched many lives. He guides the process of conceptualization, and execution of all the commissions that His studio Landscape India undertakes. He believes that every space must be designed to tell narratives, and challenge the conventional notions associated with any design typology. He has been deeply involved in academics since 1985, and has led studios in landscape architecture, architecture, and interior design. He now utilizes the same principles of teaching, and knowledge creation with LEAF, and guides the various research and outreach documents that the foundation undertakes. Ms Kachru is a Senior Design Faculty at NID, Her academic background is in Architecture and Design histories. Recent publications include "The Staging of Indian National Identity through Exhibitions: 1850 to 1947" in Penny Sparke and Fiona Fisher, eds. The Routledge Companion to Design Studies (2016); Nakashima at NID (with Adira Thekkuveettil) NID Press (2017); Contemporary Reflections on NID History: Teaching through the Design Archive in Bauhaus Imaginista Journal (2019). Her upcoming book The Routledge Handbook of Craft and Sustainability in India is co-edited with Rebecca Rubins in out for preorder on the routledge website. Prior to her current role at NID she worked as an Assistant Curator in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
